Introducing "The Echoes of the Edge" in Ouzaii, #Beirut – #Lebanon: A Vision for #Resilience, #sustainability and #Urban_Vitality Excited to share the core focus of my thesis, which is centered on "coastal habitat restoration, resilience, and sustainable urban development", with a strong emphasis on implementing #Landscape and #NatureBasedSolutions #NBS. As sea levels rise, the threat of flooding looms over our inner city and coastline. But with challenge comes opportunity. The Edge concept is a bold new vision that not only protects the coastline but also transforms it into a thriving urban space for all. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝟱 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 1. 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: A seamless, continuous Edge to safeguard our coastal area. 2. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆: New infrastructure and pathways that link the promenade visually to the old corniche and directly to the city. 3. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: A vibrant climate walk—a multifunctional urban space brimming with cultural and social activities. 4. 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Advocating for public spaces that are inclusive, accessible, and enhance life quality, health, and wellbeing for all residents. 5. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀: Proposing strategies to develop coastal ecosystems that can adapt to rising sea levels and climate change impacts. Through a multidisciplinary lens that combines 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯, #placemaking, and 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘺, my thesis offers actionable recommendations for redesigning and revitalizing critical areas like the Al Ouzaii district.
